The examinee shall submit to the Examination Centre an application to take the theory and practical examination for the Qualification of a Railway Signaller and Level Crossing Attendant, which shall include the examinee\u2019s name, surname, personal identification number, telephone number, and e-mail address. In the application, the examinee must indicate his\/her preferred date for the theory and practical examinations as well as a request to take the examination in the presence of a translator.<\/p>\n

The examinee may submit the application in person (by coming to the Examination Centre, located at Vilnius, Paneri\u0173 str. 14 (2nd floor, room 7), may send it by registered mail, or send a digital copy of the application to the Examination Centre by e-mail ana@gpavc.lt<\/a>. The application may also be submitted by a person authorised by the examinee, who has submitted a written authorisation in accordance with the procedure laid down in the Civil Code of the Republic of Lithuania.
\nOnly persons who have completed training courses or studies within formal or informal training programmes of the Railway Signaller and Level Crossing Attendant are eligible to register for the examination.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Who can take the exam”]Only persons who have completed training courses at UAB “Railway Product Conformity Assessment Centre”, or study programmes under formal or informal training programmes for the qualification of Railway Signaller and Level Crossing Attendant in other companies providing training services, are eligible to register for the Examination.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What are the examination procedures”]The theoretical examination for the qualification of Railway Signaller and Level Crossing Attendant shall be conducted in writing or by means of an online examination information system. The duration of the theoretical examination shall be 60 minutes. The examination consists of 30-question Test, where each question has three possible answers. Before the examination, the examinee shall be briefed on the examination procedure. The examination shall be monitored by a Competence Assessment Board.<\/p>\n

The practical skills test for the qualification of a Railway Signaller and Level Crossing Attendant shall be held at the railway undertaking or at the railway infrastructure manager. Only a person who has passed the theory qualification examination for the qualification of a Railway Signaller and Level Crossing Attendant may take the practical skills examination. The tasks for the practical aptitude test shall be based on the competences required of a person qualified as a Railway Signaller and Level Crossing Attendant. Before the examination, the tasks for the practical skills examination are chosen in random order and are monitored by a panel set up by the Competence Assessment Board. The duration of the practical examination shall be between 60 and 180 minutes.
\n[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Knowledge and skills tested and assessed during the examination” el_class=”list-style”]The knowledge and skills assessed in the theory and practical examinations for the qualification of a Railway Signaller and Level Crossing Attendant:<\/p>\n

  1. How well they know and follow railway safety rules in practical tasks;<\/li>\n
  2. Being able to mark off an obstacle or an area hazardous to train traffic with signal signs in accordance with the requirements of the Railway Signalling Regulations;<\/li>\n
  3. Being able to work safely during breaks in train traffic at railway stations and intermediate stations, during major and routine repairs;<\/li>\n
  4. Being able to work safely in railway stations and intermediate stations when train traffic is not interrupted and when repair work is carried out on the overhead contact line and signalling equipment;<\/li>\n
  5. Being able to determine the maximum permitted speed of trains after track repair work, and being able to use signalling and communication equipment;<\/li>\n
  6. How well they know the requirements for the construction of level crossings and the functions of a level crossing attendant, and how to meet trains and organise road traffic at a level crossing in accordance with requirements;<\/li>\n
  7. Knowledge on how to deal with unusual situations where train safety is at risk;<\/li>\n
  8. Knowledge of the occupational safety requirements for Signallers and Level Crossing Attendants and the safety and health risks involved in the work process, and the ability to apply them in the work process.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    [\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Procedure for issuing the certificate”]A person who has successfully passed the theory and practice examinations for the qualification of a Railway Signaller and Level Crossing Attendant, shall be issued a certificate of a qualification of a Railway Signaller and Level Crossing Attendant in the form approved by the Minister of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania. The certificate shall be valid for an indefinite period of time.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How much does the exam cost and when do I have to pay for it?”]The price of the examination for 1 person \u2013 from 60.00 EUR (price includes 21% VAT).<\/p>\n

    Payment for the examination must be made before the scheduled date of the examination. If payment is not received, the Railway Product Conformity Assessment Centre reserves the right not to allow the person to take the examination.<\/p>\n

    * The price of the practical examination may vary depending on the additional costs associated with the rental or purchase of rolling stock, railway infrastructure and\/or premises, or other equipment needed to organise the practical examination.
    \n[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What do I have to have and wear during the exams?”]An identity document is required for both the theory and practical examinations.<\/p>\n

    Failure to provide the aforementioned document will result in the person not being allowed to sit the examination.<\/p>\n

    For the practical examination, the person must additionally have personal protective equipment (signalling vest, work footwear and clothing, safety helmet and goggles, hearing protection). During the practical examination, the person must wear personal protective equipment.
